Another travel blog by one of my students, Pavla Chroustovská. Enjoy 🙂

In July, we did a four-day hike across the Krkonoše Mountains. A small group, two mothers and four children. The youngest child was eighteen months old. My friend organised everything, booked the accommodation, and planned every day. She has a lot of experience with this type of holiday. For me and my children, it was the first time.

We started in Velká Úpa. The first day was only a travel day. We needed to get to our starting point. The second day, we went to Sněžka. The weather was very bad, rainy, windy, and cloudy. Visibility was poor due to fog.  We moved to our next accommodation in Poland. We stayed in Slezský dům, which is the nearest accommodation from the top in 1400 m a.s.l. It was the worst accommodation we had, but the views were charming and picturesque. On the third day, the weather turned beautiful and sunny. We had a great opportunity to return to Sněžka with stunning scenery, but the children stopped us. That day, there was a big running competition with hundreds of participants running up Sněžka three times.

The third day was the best one. We hiked along the ridge of the mountains. The views were breathtaking.  We hiked over 12 kilometers. We enjoyed a lovely stop at a spa hotel, where we could relax and recharge before continuing our journey. The next guesthouse was very cozy in a scenic and sleepy area Bílé Labe near Špindlerův Mlýn. The fourth day started with a steep four-kilometer climb. The hike up was exhausting, but the view was worth it. We headed back towards Luční Bouda. Luční Bouda is the nearest accommodation from Sněžka in the Czech Republic, but we only relaxed and recharged there and continued to our last place of stay at Dvorská Bouda. The last day was just a short route back to our cars, but in difficult weather conditions and with very tired kids.

Not everything was smooth, but we enjoyed four wonderful days surrounded by mountains. We found out that even in very bad weather, you can still go hiking with small children and enjoy it. This journey leaves us with countless unforgettable and powerful memories. We would love to make this kind of holiday a yearly tradition. I can recommend it to anyone who loves nature, adventure, sports, and creating memories together.
